GEW Session Guide for 2020

Global Entrepreneurship Week is back again in Fort Worth…in a whole new way! Due to COVID, an all-virtual, all free event in 2020 is going to change how the people in DFW can participate in GEW! 

So you are probably wondering how to even get involved in GEW. It’s simple! All it takes is one registration (completely free & completely virtual) and you get access to 80+ sessions that range from beginner’s session, such as the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, to the advanced sessions, like how to build a startup community and how to make global connections. You can register at HERE!

The “You-Don’t-Want-To-Miss” Sessions: 

Let’s start with sessions for anybody and everybody! These are recurring flagship sessions that are highly anticipated and usually provide great resources or education in regards to entrepreneurs. 

AccelerateDFW Pitch Battle 2020 – All Week, November 16 – 20, 2020, 16 entrepreneurs will present their pitch in video format, most social engagement via YouTube advance to GEW Week. Pitch experts break down 4 pitches each day during GEW FW. Winner takes all!

Startup Series: Job Creation with Kate Hodel – Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at 1:30 PM – Join HSC as they interview innovators and disruptors for the annual session, Startup Series. Kate Hodel from SourceLink joins Fort Worth to discuss jobs in the community. 

Startup Crawl – Wednesday, November 18, 2020, 2 PM to 5 PM – Meet the startups! Join local businesses in our Expo Hall & explore the DFW entrepreneurial scene – virtually!

Impact Fort Worth – Friday, November 20, 2020, from 11:30 AM to 6 PM – Impact Fort Worth is an initiative to help our cities build back better through social innovation. This year’s theme is Agents For Change.

For the Entrepreneur Who Doesn’t Know Where to Start: 

These sessions cover the basics of entrepreneurial and startups. Need to learn something to help kickoff your idea? Looking for a resource for your business? You’re in the right place. These are selected sessions that can help you tap into education and resources for entrepreneurs. 

Seed Round 101 – Monday, November 16, 2020, at 10 AM – Andrew Kussmaul, a startup and venture capital attorney, will cover the ins and outs of raising your seed round.

Business Fundamentals: Planning, Funding, Operating – Monday, November 16, 2020, at 12 PM  – Ever wonder how to start a business? We’ll help you learn.

Envisioning Entrepreneurship – Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at 1 PM – Learn how the Fort Worth Envision Center and Fort Worth Public Library support entrepreneurship in the community.

How to Build Product Prototype and Test Hypothesis Under $10K– Thursday, November 19, 2020, at 9:30 AM – Art Tsymbal, CEO of Ukrainian product design agency, explains how to validate your business hypothesis quickly and test app prototypes.

Simple Steps to Starting Your Own Business with SCORE – Thursday, November 19, 2020, at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM – Learn the steps to starting a business with SCORE Fort Worth.

Sparkyard Presents: Jump-starting Our Startup Community – Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at 9 AM –  Learn about the dashboard Dane is designing that tracks key metrics in Fort Worth’s entrepreneurial ecosystem to be launched on Sparkyard.

Education + Entrepreneurship: Changing Communities – Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at 2 PM – Harold Hogue, the founder of Cospero Consulting, discusses how social entrepreneurs can transform communities with vision, resilience + relationship.

It’s Never Too Early to Think Global – Monday, November 16, 2020, at 10 AM – Come learn the “secret sauce” of the Nordics and how it can be applied to DFW and your startup.

Seminario Para Negocios Hispanos – Monday, November 16, 2020, at 2 PM – Seminario Para Negocios Hispanos es una iniciativa que comprende una serie de cursos y seminarios desarrollados por la Cámara de Comercio Hispana de Fort Worth en colaboración con La Gran Plaza.

Entrepreneurship and Inclusion Across the World – Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at 10 AM – We will be sharing extended presentations with 3 female entrepreneurs. Roshni Dhatingan from India, Dawna Hyacinth from St. Lucia, and our very own Darlisa Diltz from Fort Worth, Texas. Each speaker will have 30 minutes to present which includes Q&A from all communities present across the country.

Startup Nation Israel – Friday, November 20, 2020, at 10 AM – Learn how a young country New Jersey’s size and the population became an innovation giant and what we can learn and apply to accelerate growth.
