Women’s Business Council – Southwest

The Women’s Business Council – Southwest provides certification (a competitive advantage for those looking to do business with corporations and government entities) and events to help women-owned businesses grow.

About

The Women’s Business Council – Southwest (WBCS) is one of 14 regional partners of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the largest certifier of women-owned businesses (WBEs) in the U. S.

Mission: To increase the value of women-owned businesses by providing certification, education, advocacy, and mutually beneficial business opportunities for our members and affiliates.

Vision: Lifting up women-owned businesses, and positively impacting the community through inclusive and prosperous partnerships for all.

Certification is a competitive advantage for women-owned businesses looking to do business with corporations/government entities. That’s because these corporations have supplier diversity programs, meaning they’re intentionally being inclusive of the suppliers they work with and have goals around the # or % of suppliers they work with who are considered diverse (women-owned, minority-owned, veteran-owned, or LGBTQ-owned). They rely on third party organizations like ours to verify (or certify) that the company is, in our case, women-owned.

The certification we provide is national in scope. Our parent company, WBENC, sets the standards for certification, and the country is divided into 14 regions to serve as a more local resource for the folks in their region. Our region includes all of New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Arkansas, and the northern half of Texas – Austin and above. We have 1,286 certified women-owned businesses in our network and 91 Corporate Members.
