SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAMS

  • Utilizing skills training grants and programs to upskill your existing or incumbent employees that are offered by the Texas Workforce Commission, at no cost to the employer. The paperwork and qualification for these grants are all handled by the college – all that’s required by you is the desire to improve the skillset of your hardworking employees.
    • Skills Development Fund –This training grant gives you the ability to customize the training specifically to your internal program and is facilitated by the local college or an accredited technical school.
    • Skills for Small Business Fund – Similar to the Skills Development Fund, however, it is typically for small companies of at least 1 full-time employee or more and allows for your employees to take classes the college already offers.
    • Other programs such as Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) grants and Registered Apprenticeship programs to ensure skilled workers for tomorrow!

WORK OPPORTUNITY TAX CREDIT (WOTC)

  • The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a federal income tax benefit administered by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) for employers who hire individuals from specified target populations. WOTC reduces a business’s federal tax liability, serving as an incentive to select job candidates who may be disadvantaged in their efforts to find employment. The main objective of this program is to enable individuals to become employed, earn a steady income and become contributing taxpayers. WOTC joins other workforce programs that help provide incentives for workplace diversity and improve access to good jobs for American workers.
