Pitching Better: Overcoming Bias in Fundraising

January 12 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm CST

Free

Learn how underrepresented founders can overcome bias in fundraising through their pitch through research and tactical skills.

This workshop was adapted based on the research of Dr. Laura Huang, a professor at Harvard Business School who spent five years studying gender parity in the startup world. She found that women founders were often asked preventative questions (ie., “is this actually a large market opportunity?”) when pitching to investors, while their male counterparts were asked promotional questions (ie., “how big can this business get?”). This workshop takes these findings and applies them to underrepresented founder groups, especially LGBTQ+ founders, sharing insights on how to identify these types of questions and tactical ways to respond.
