Melting for Healthcare Heroes

by Kendel Rogers | Apr 17, 2020

I can tell you that whenever I have a bad day, I shamelessly eat ice cream. It is my comfort food. The treat that doesn’t ask questions, but understands!

I am sure we have all been there. From a breakup to a bad day at the office, maybe it was just a day where everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.

It feels like we have been living in a string of bad days, huh? With the coronavirus keeping us indoors, most of us fear our livelihoods, our families and friends, and what Fort Worth will look like at the end of all this.

So, of course, we resort to ice cream. And Melt Ice Cream knew they had to “melt away the blues” here in Fort Worth.

If you live in the DFW area, many of you have probably had Melt Ice Cream. Open since 2014, Melt serves “a rotating menu of creative flavors, alongside some classics,” and has made their way as a staple onto all local Instagrammers’ feeds with their recognizable black and yellow branding.

But they love giving back smiles to their neighborhoods. Through their latest program, Happiness for Heroes, they are delivering ice cream to those healthcare workers on the frontline fighting the coronavirus.

How it works is the community can buy a discounted amount of ice cream that is then delivered (through proper sanitizing and social distancing!) to local healthcare workers in North Texas. In an email campaign, Melt Ice Cream announced that they have delivered over 1,600 scoops of ice cream to hospitals and clinics so far.

If you are interested in purchasing some “happiness for heroes”, please order on their website at https://melt-ice-creams.square.site/product/happiness-for-heroes/559?cs=true or give them a call at (817) 886-8365. You can search through their flavors here https://melt-ice-creams.square.site if this article sweetened your taste to get a couple scoops for yourself!

As we try to maneuver through these uncharted waters, remember to support your local small businesses. Much like this story, so many businesses are doing the right thing to help their communities in economic uncertainty. If you are interested in more information about how you can help local small business restaurants here https://www.fortworth.com/coronavirus/restaurant-updates/ or how you can help support local artists & musicians here https://www.fortworth.com/blog/post/ways-to-support-local-musicians-and-artists-covid-19/

To wrap things up, I know a lot of us are struggling with the new situation of the coronavirus. But like all bad days, we all have good days too. Whenever you reach a new goal, did something you’re proud of, even just seeing our friends and families after this will be something worth celebrating. Just so happens that ice cream is also perfect for celebrations and Texas hot summers, then “we will all scream for ice cream!”
